Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Wide, rounded shoulders in a large frame with thicker lower half and core; frame has strength and can continue to tighten and shape as he matures. High runner with long leg stride (8.17 60-yd dash). Balanced, slightly crouched stance with even hands away from his body and high back elbow; knee tuck as hands move backward with bat wiggle in pre-pitch load. Creates strong stretch and separation between upper/lower halves of the body showing a quick bat with level bat path. Quick turns while keeping hands tight and driving lower half into the ground; showed pull side quickness with middle field approach (89 exit velo). Athletic lower half plays on a swivel and able to be agile off of and around the bag. Compact arm with quick release keeping ball tight to head (72 mph).
8/25/18
PBR N CA Underclass Games - Big 6-foot-2 200-pound body type, large frame, potential to develop into a very physical body. Performed as a 2-way player; high-3/4 slot on mound, easy arm action, showed feel of the ball, mostly an upper body delivery at this point, as he incorporates the lower half more there is room for significant velocity increase. Fastball life was better than the overall velocity (77-80 mph) but the desired velocity will come. Bigger type curveball (65-67 mph), spin was fairly loose (perhaps just needs to grip tighter) and was released a bit early, kept change-up down (73-75 mph). Quality pitcher to keep track of in the coming years.
