9/16/18 - Cruz is a guy that's on the edge of putting it all together and when he does, look out. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound outfielder is long, lean, rangy and athletic. Showed his bat speed when he caught up to a fastball up in the zone and hit a line drive into centerfield for a base hit. His overall game is very projectable and he carries a 4.2 GPA
8/18/18 - SoCal Underclass Games - Six-foot-2, 165-pound, large, lean, loose, athletic, wiry strong frame. Long limbs and a high waist. Cruz shows a balanced setup with a simple load and almost no stride. Does a fair job of incorporating lower half in swing. Stroke is easy and smooth. Ball jumps off the barrel when he gets extended; squared one up to left field for a base hit in-game. Shows good feel for hitting to opposite field. Defensively Cruz shows athleticism and body control when approaching balls; understands angles and has the speed/athleticism to get to balls quickly. Arm is strong; had some accuracy issues during workout portion that corrected themselves in-game. Cruz oozes projection with his raw, but loud, tools. Clocked a 4.27 home-to-first in-game.
