7/1/17 - Pitches from high slot with wrist hook in back. Fairly straight fastball at 86-88, touching 89-90. Feel for sinking changeup at 80-83. Loose slider at 78-80.
11/1/19: A transfer from UCLA, the 6-foot-4, 220 pound broad shouldered right-hander had a back injury and command issues his freshman season in Westwood. Now back close to home at Sac City, Boatman will show three pitches, including a 92-95 mph FB with an above average spin rate. He's currently working on improving the efficiency of the spin. He also mixes a CH with some depth at 82-84 and a 77-79 mph CB with a tilted, 2/8 break. He will need to create more depth on this pitch. Boatman is athletic, has a clean delivery and his arm works well. He has very good arm speed out front, and there looks to be more in the tank. After a tough summer season in the Northwoods League where he walked 35 and allowed 24 hits in 17.1 IP, Boatman must improve and his strike-throwing ability.
