SS, showed a smooth stroke in BP with his barrel staying in the zone a long time to produce hard line drives. The Cal State Fullerton recruit did get a little caught out front with his stride at times, but he does well to keep his hands back.
1/19/19 - Cruz’s hit-tool continues to be his calling card, and his sweet, left-handed stroke did not appear to have missed a step over the off-season. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound utility infielder has a wiry-frame with quick hands that produce current gap power with more possible as he continues filling out. Cruz was 2-for-3 with a double, and his quiet, relaxed approach, and ability to track pitches currently stands out. He features solid hands on the infield and projects as more of a utility player whose bat will carry him, especially if his power continues to increase.
