2015 All-Eastern Kansas League - 2nd Team
2014 KABC 6A All-State - First Team
8/6/14 - Schwab is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed pitcher. Under control early, delivery picks up-tempo after knee lift, tucks knee at balance, hides ball, strides inline, athletic finish, excellent body control throughout, repeatable delivery. Quick arm, three-quarters slot. Fastball has late sinking/cutting life, 81-85 mph. Command of 11/5 breaking ball 68-70 mph, also showed feel for 74-76 mph slider. Maintains arm-speed on 71-72 change-up, throws at bottom of zone. Retired six out six batters with four strikeouts, mixed all three pitches effectively. 12/17 strikes. Polished and projectable pitching prospect.
7/6/14 - Schwab is one of the top class of 2015 left-handing pitching prospects in the Midwest that remains uncommitted college-wise. He’s a big lefty with body control, clean arm action and a rhythmic, repeatable delivery. His 81-85 mph fastball has consistent arm-side run to it and he features a 70-72 11/5 breaking ball he can drop in the strike zone or punch a hitter out with below the zone. Schwab isn’t a prospect you have to imagine might be good someday, he was a KABC 6A All-State 1st Team performer this spring.
4/23/14 - The Blue Valley West Class of 2014 has been followed closely by both scouts and media alike the last few years and rightly so – it’s a talented group that has accomplished great things. The West Class of 2015 also has a solid core of prospects which includes Vanderbilt commit Connor Kaiser. Another emerging junior for West is Davis Schwab, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed pitcher. Today he started against Bishop Miege working a solid five innings in a run-rule shortened game. Using a season high 90 pitches, hitting the zone 56 times and keeping the Miege hitters off balance with a fastball as high as 85 mph (81-83 working fastball) and two types of breaking balls, one a slurvish pitch at 66 mph and also a tight spinning 12/6 hammer at 72. He also flashed a change up twice during his outing at 72 mph. Schwab throws from a ¾ slot with quick, clean arm action and excellent body control throughout his delivery. His velocity has increased with his size over the last year, trending up in a good way. On the year he is 1-0 and 2-for-2 in save opportunities with a 1.24 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 11 innings.
