09.25.18 UNC Wilmington commit. Long body frame catches the eye with plenty of room to continue to add strength. Stands 6-foot-7, 200 pounds. Long, loose arm stroke to an over-the-top release. More arm strength than arm speed with the fastball at 84-87. More aggression with the fastball to the arm side. Late run when on the arm side. Breaking ball flashed better to left handed hitters with a bigger window for the arc to work, sitting 71-74. Good tilt and shape with early action to right handed hitters, occasionally pulling it out of the hand.
08.09.18 UNC Wilmington commit. Impressive length and some physicality at 6-foot-6, 195 pounds. Fastball was down a little in the late summer outing, from reports, but it is live and jumps on top of hitters late. Created swing and miss in the zone, as well as when elevated, at 83-85, touching 86. Breaking ball has a high future as it continues to develop. Currently with gradual 10/4 action at 69-73. The harder it was thrown, the tighter it became with depth and darting action. Early when around the pitch. At 71-73, spin created chase and got swing and miss in zone. Stuff dipped a tick in the stretch across the board. Works level to balance, with a coil, closing is line and showing the hitter his back. Good looseness in hips. Long arm swing to a high-3/4 slot with a quick hand through release. Good extension. Lands on-line and square. Feel for each pitch is present.
05.20.17
Intriguing athlete with a tall, lanky frame in a 6-foot-6, 180 pound frame. Plenty of projection left in the frame to continue to grow and to continue to fill out with strength. Fastball sat 80-82 with some effort from a long arm swing working to a high-¾ slot. Better than average quickness in the arm. Good balance point, with some rhythm, slightly closed with the shoulders as he works to a square landing. Change up works with good hand speed, showing sink and fade at 68-72. Threw strikes with the change, missing down at times. Breaking ball works with gradual 10/4 tilt. Arm slows through release, allowing the curveball to sit 68-72. Did show an ability to throw it for a strike. High ceiling in an athlete that showed some power in the body throughout the workout.
Works from a tall stance as a right handed hitter. Exit velocity topped at 88mph. Strong and whippy with the barrel. Fought to find the barrel at times. Loads down, using a leg kick and short stride. Better than average bat speed working to gain extension and stay gap-to-gap. On the infield, the footwork is still learning to guide the long frame. Long arm has some stiffness working to an over-the-top slot. Showed accuracy and carry, with the arm speed registering 71 across the infield.
