Comments
Linton is an athletic 6-foot, 175 pound SS/RHP (up 20 pounds from 12/21/2014) and runs a solid 6.99 60 (shaving off .11 seconds from December 2014). Offensively- Quiet hands and bat angle stays consistent at a 45-degree angle. Small leg kick helps keep Brian’s weight back and assists in hip explosion. Hands are quick to the ball with minimal wasted movement. Shoulder height finish, exit velocity of 91 MPH (up 13 MPH from December 2014.). Line drive stroke that stays through the middle of the field; improved extension will help tap into power potential. Defensively- Comes through ball well with momentum carrying him to first base. Infield velocity has increased 10 mph from December 2014 and is now at 82 MPH. Brian keeps himself well balanced and doesn’t rush throws; ¾ arm slot. Improved side-to-side quickness can increase velocity across diamond and allow for a more efficient route to the ball.
Pro Holiday Clinic (December 21, 2014)
Linton stands 5-foot-11, 155-pounds with a slender build. Defensively- From SS he shows signs of above average skills. He moves athletically, stay low, getting around and through the ball. Fields with glove face open, out in front of body. Quick funnel, clean exchange. Throws from a mid-3/4 slot, arm strength at 72 mph. Offensively- At the plate his setup is relaxed. On the pitch he strides, back load for timing. Short path to the ball, barrel stays level through the zone, long extension, shoulder height finish. 78 mph exit velocity off a tee. He ran a 7.1 60 yard dash time. Pitching - From the mound he uses a relaxed delivery. He uses a high knee lift with hip turn, great momentum towards homeplate. Hands break in front of rubber, deep-back arm action, level shoulders, opens front side too fast, throws from a mid-3/4 slot. There are clear signs of hand speed from the mound. He finishes with good extension over his front knee. Fun player to keep an eye on.
