Bat speed was developing, showed an upward swing plane and balanced finish. Pull side approach. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 77 mph. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.94.
Caleb Melendez: 2B/SS, (2025) Amherst Marion L. Steele, OH. 5-foot-5, 155-pound. During batting practice, the left-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 81 mph. (59.9 mph bat speed average). (16.4 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced quiet stance with a quick load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is efficient, shows a short simple swing plane and high finish. Solid while in the infield, made throws up to 66 mph; showed firm hands, a natural exchange, and consistent feet. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. Recorded a 60 time of 8.05 at the event. On the mound, showing consistent arm speed he had a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Produced a fastball that came in at 78-79 mph. Shows slight running action.His 11/5 curveball (64-68) has some sweeping action.He shows slight action on his changeup (70-71).
