6/5/18
6-foot-3, 190-pound, Projectable right-handed pitching prospect with solid three-pitch mix. Uses a compact delivery that is repeatable and requires some effort. Slight stab on the back side of the arm action. Attacks with his fastball, the pitch is delivered from a high-¾ slot at 81-84 MPH with cut. Offers two quality breaking pitches. A big curveball that is near 12/6 shape at 68-71 MPH and a hard 11/5 slider that has some bite at 72-75 MPH. Has the makeup to be a starter at the next level.
Bucher really impressed on the bump. Frame has an athletic look to it at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Delivery is efficient without requiring much effort. Arm is clean, showing noticeable looseness and whip through a high-¾ slot. Pitchability has always been there for Bucher and his bump in velocity to the mid 80s should garner scholarship attention this spring/summer. Locates the heater well and will use both sides of the plate. Even with the velocity jump he still shows physical signs of more mphs to come. Spins a tight, sharp breaking ball on an 11/5 plane at 69-72 mph. The pitch is a well above average offering, showing signs of swing and miss to it. Also tosses a reliable changeup that will run and dive through the zone at 76-77 mph. A starter type that will be a high follow for college coaches in 2018.
6-foot, 155-pound thin, projectable build. At the plate the righty starts with an athletic setup and uses a toe-turn load to initiate his lower half. Would like to see him be more explosive with his lower half. Does a good job of staying through the zone with a level path. Exit velocity was 76 mph and he ran a 5.13 from home to first base. In the field he did a good job of playing through the ball and carrying momentum into his throws. From a high-3/4 slot he showed 72 mph arm strength across the diamond.
