6/13/17 - Home-1st: 4.72, Position Velocity: IF-80, Exit Velocity: 79 6-foot-1, 170-pound, RHH hit from a wider and more balanced stance than we saw from him back in January, uses a short and early stride to load with some hand movement, maintains balance and gets his lower half through, swing plane is mostly flat but can get a little steep at times. Defensively, showed just above-average hands and footwork at the corner, could play through it and field the ball out front, as he tends to let it get in on him, arm strength and accurate are there.
6/13/17 - Max FB: 84, FB: 80-84, CB: 73-74, CH: 70-72, 6-foot-1, 170-pound, RHP has an athletic build and competes on both sides of the ball. Both his projectable frame and the athleticism he displays suggest a ton of upside for his career on the mound. Mealer moves well and uses a long and loose arm action through a ¾ to high ¾ slot. He attacks the plate and can produce the type of run and sink that bears down on a righty. His curveball breaks sharply through the zone with 12/6 to 11/5 shape and works as a solid out pitch. Keep an eye on Mealer as he continues to develop and fill out.
1/16/17 - Max FB: 83, FB: 79-83, CB: 67-70, CH: 71-76, 5-foot-11, 160-pound, RHP moves athletically on the mound with loose and rangy movements, long legs get him started with his quick and up-tempo delivery by initiating his higher leg lift that creates some slight shoulder tilt at the top, front side stays closed for a long time until clearing upon the landing of his front foot, explodes toward the plate with a long and loose arm action through a high ¾ angle, some real projectability in this 2019 grad. Fastball showed some slight run, curveball was tight with late 11/5 shape and break, changeup had some run through the zone.
1/16/17 - 60 Time: 8.01, Position Velocity: IF-80, Exit Velocity: 83 5-foot-11, 160-pound, RHH hits from a mostly balanced and slightly open stance with some taller posture, uses a pretty generic stride with a quietening of his hands to get loaded, lower half gets through but keeps him tall and forward onto his front leg at times, swing plane is usually steep through the zone but showed very good bat speed and the ability to elevate some pitches up in the zone, stayed hard up the middle. Defensively, showed above-average hands and average footwork in the infield, could have played through the ball with more confidence as he seemed to stop his momentum in the middle, exchange sometimes took an extra step and led to a long arm action through a high ¾ slot. Throws were firm.
