We have long known 3B/SS Javin Gauthier (De Pere, 2024; Illinois State commit) to be a top prospect in the state’s ‘24 class and his performance at Green Bay backed that point up even more. It seems like Gauthier has added some more strength since our previous look at him as he now is built at a thicker 6-foot, 193 pounds. Gauthier started his day by running a 7.01 in the 60-yard dash and then followed it up with one of the top rounds of infield defense of the day. While manning the infield Gauthier showcased quality actions, with soft hands that make him a reliable defender. He pairs it with a strong arm that topped at 86 mph on his throws across the diamond, which point to him being able to stick on the left-side of the infield at the next-level. Then during the hitting portion of the event, Gauthier averaged an exit velocity of 89.9 mph, which was the third highest of the event, and his hardest hit ball came off at 94.6. It seems that with each and every look we get at Gauthier he continues to hit the ball for more power which enhances his overall prospect as a middle-of-the-order threat at the next level.

2/28/22
Built at a leaner 6-foot, 175 pounds – with room to add strength onto his frame – Gauthier’s left-handed bat added more physicality this offseason. He reached a peak exit velocity of 94.5 mph in BP, up nearly 10 ticks since he attended the Fox Cities Preseason ID a year ago, averaging 86.4 off the bat. Gauthier drove the ball more from a pure distance standpoint as well, reaching a peak batted distance of 346 feet. His ability to keep his barrel in the zone and create leverage out front aids him in working gap-to-gap more consistently, which enhances his future middle-of-the-order potential because of the added thump to his barrel.
