Today we are announcing our first of three season awards for a standout player in the VA/DC area. Today we announce the Pitcher of the Year award. This award is to recognize the best arm in the VA/DC area. This year we had two that were frontline standout candidates.

*Please note, stats MUST have been submitted in order for a player to be considered for an All-State team.*

*Stats below reflect what was submitted prior to the June 3rd deadline.*

Co-Pitchers of the Year

Sean McCabe

Class of 2025 / RHP

Player Information

  • Graduating Class: 2025
  • Primary Position: RHP
    Secondary Position: 1B
  • High School: St. John's College High School
    State: VA
  • Summer Team: Cadets Baseball
  • Height: 6-1
    Weight: 185lbs
  • Bat/Throw: L/R

The College of Charleston commit had arguably the hardest slate of games of any arm in the area. McCabe faced off with Cox, Malvern Prep (PA), Archbishop Spalding (MD), Gonzaga, Casteel (AZ), Good Counsel (MD), and more. McCabe got wins over a few of them and gave up limited damage versus the others. He threw 47.1 IP, had 7 wins, only allowed 4 earned runs, and held down a .59 ERA. He was the most dominant and consistent arm in the DC area.

Jake Wise

Class of 2025 / RHP

Player Information

  • Graduating Class: 2025
  • Primary Position: RHP
  • High School: Benedictine College Preparatory
    State: VA
  • Summer Team: Richmond Braves Platinum
  • Height: 6-0
    Weight: 185lbs
  • Bat/Throw: R/R

While there were some others in VA that had comparable numbers, there were not any arms that dominated games the way he did, especially versus the level of competition that he did. Wise threw 67.2 IP, was 10-1, had 76 strikeouts, and carried a .83 ERA in this way to a VISAA DI title. He is an ultra-competitive arm whose energy and pitchability allow him to dominate on a consistent basis.
